The Pioneer of Community Services

Praise God for allowing me to be part of the CCHC family! Over the past 25 years, it has been a blessing to me and God has used it to help me grow. I am particularly thankful for the following:

1. He led me to help establish CCHC which has provided me many opportunities to serve.

2. He gave me a great partner in Christ, Rev. Lo, for these 25 years.

3. He granted me the privilege to serve both the young and the old.

4. He expanded my ministry from the Senior Center, immigrant amnesty, and Camp Herald to radio broadcasting.

5. He protected my wife from the assaults of Lupus, kidney failure, dialysis, and two kidney transplants, and allows her to continue to serve and share the Gospel with others.

6. He affirms and preserves my burden to minister to the needy.

7. He gives me the privilege to walk with others who are going through the valleys of life and walking under the shadow of death. He also allows me to share the hope of the Gospel with them.

8. He gave me a ministry where I can creatively serve Him, and expanded my horizon as I serve in various ministries.

9. He ordained me to be the pastor of The Church of the Living Lord under the CCHC umbrella.

10. He granted me many close friends through CCHC. They encourage me to devote myself for others’ successes!

Praise God! He gave me the opportunities to witness the growth of CCHC every step of the way. I have tasted the joy and believe that God has blessed me abundantly!

I’d rather be a trailblazing worker for the Lord

Life is full of choices and each choice produces different results. For the past 19 years at CCHC, I’ve witnessed God opening many doors of opportunity. Each time an opportunity immerges, a choice must be made, but we view it as a stepping stone to broaden our ministry so that the good news of Jesus Christ can be spread to new horizons. However, at the same time we also acknowledge the toil and labor that must come with it if we choose to take the opportunity.

I have to confess I struggle immensely each time an opportunity appears. I dare not make a choice from my flesh, but pray zealously for the Lord’s will. Sometimes I even negotiate with Him. In the end, His will always prevails. To be a trailblazer for Him is to humbly accept His leading in every step. But I found that obeying Him is actually the best choice because He would open a door that no one can close. I compare obeying Him to stepping into the Jordan River. As soon as we take the first step with faith, He will part the water for us to walk through.

In being a witness to the growth of CCHC, I give all the credit to our Lord and His wondrous work. If He does not put inspiration into man’s heart, all our work is done in vain no matter how hard we try. I’m not saying that we don’t need to labor and toil, but thanks to the obedience and devotion of a group of brothers and sisters in the Lord to His leading, God showers His blessings on CCHC.

So I give all the glory and honor to our dear Lord Jesus. My gratitude also goes to Rev. Lo for his trust and for the fellow workers who serve alongside me with faithful and loving hearts. Together we serve in a united spirit.

2006: Appointed as the Associate Executive Director.

A life lunch meeting Life-transforming

I joined CCHC as a full-time co-worker in Jan. 1995, which was the result of a lunch meeting with Rev. Lo after a Sunday service in the Spring of 1993.

I was, then, working in a University in Hong Kong with high salary and a promising future, while serving at a local church as the vice-chairman of the deacon board, but somehow I wasn’t happy. Praise the Lord for keeping me and shedding light into my heart! His love touched me so dearly that I desired to serve Him more. I said two prayers after my meeting with Rev. Lo. In the first one, I asked God to open a door to full-time ministry for me. Second, I asked God to equip me to serve Him effectively.

That lunch was organized to welcome Rev. Lo’s visit to our church. It was just an ordinary lunch, however, the direction of my life has changed completely. I recognized that no materialistic gain can be compared with serving the Lord, which carries eternal value. I’ve served at CCHC for 13 years, which is like a blinking moment, yet full of memorable accounts of tears, laughter, labor and joy. It was a journey of challenge after challenge. I learned that crisis can turn out to be a blessing, and difficulty, a miracle. I experienced firsthand God’s tremendous grace to CCHC. In recent years, the scope of CCHC has tripled under God’s provision, which allows us to serve the Chinese all over the world in a diversity of ministry. While celebrating her 25th anniversary, we pray that CCHC will always walk with God to make a global impact.

Daniel Wong - Associate Executive Director

1997: Volunteered as one of the CCHC LA Branch planning committees; later on, stepped up to be the Chairman.

2007: Started serving at CCHC New York Headquarters as the Associate Executive Director; took charge of the CCHC Caring Ministry and helped oversee the Construction Project of Herald Mission Center.

Treasure every opportunity to serve

About 15 years ago, I read the Herald Monthly and was very impressed by the publication. A few years later during Rev. Lo’s visit to the West Coast, Rev. Lee introduced me to him and we conversed and prayed together for over two hours. I agreed with the strategy and methodology that CCHC used to spread the Gospel. From then on, I joined the planning committee of the CCHC in L.A. and began to be involved with the ministry.

As a chairperson of the planning committee at that time, I witnessed God’s mighty power, His faithfulness and abundant grace in the project of purchasing the Mission Center and the Medical Center of CCHC L.A. I was privileged to be able to use my knowledge and experience to supervise the construction of the buildings. Throughout the process, I felt the tremendous blessings He poured on CCHC.

Starting this year, God called me to serve at CCHC on a full-time basis. I thank Him for having equipped me in the field of architecture and giving me the opportunity to be involved in the project of the New York Mission Center and the renovation of the Manhattan Building. CCHC also provides me with a way of fulfilling my burden for world missions, where I get to be involved in the caring of the cancer patients, restaurant workers and disaster relief fund. I want to thank God and CCHC for using me!
